Occupational hazard in silk industries | biology class 7

The people working in silk industries can suffer from the following diseases : 

1) Sorter’s disease: People working in the wool industry can get infected by a bacterium called anthrax, which causes a fatal blood disease called Sorter disease.

2) Respiratory disease: Workers inhale vapours produced when cocoons are steamed, cooked, or reeled. This can lead to breathing problems, asthma and other bronchial ailments.

3) Scabies and other skin infections: When boiling cocoons in water, workers remain in constant with boiling water. Due to this, their skin becomes raw and blistered. This results in peeling of the skin of hands and feet, the chances of skin infection like scabies.
