(For Regular and Sightless Regular Candidates)

Full Marks – 100

(For External and sightless External Candidates)

Special credits will be given for answers which are brief and to the point.

Marks will be deducted for spelling mistakes, untidiness and bad handwriting.

(All questions of Group ‘A’ are compulsory. Candidate should follow the alternatives in other groups. Sightless candidates will answer the alternative questions as per directive in Group C. Other will attempt map pointing.)

1. (a) Locate the following with appropriate symbols and names on the given outline map of India. Attach the map with your answer paper. [1 x 5 = 5]

(b.i) Kamchatka peninsula,

(b.ii) Aral sea,

Group-B

2.(a)  Identify the correct answers : [1 x 5 = 5]

(a.i) An example of rift valley is Indus valley/ Godavari valley/Narmada valley.

(a.ii) Block disintegration/Exfoliation/Frost shattering is seen over the the higher altitudinal regions of Himalaya.

(a.iii) Kettle/Roches Moutonnees/Esker is a landform carved out by glacier.

(a.iv) Under normal condition the ideal air pressure over sea level is approximately 1003 mb/ 1013 mb/ 1030 mb.

(a.v) Tidal bore occurs during Spring tide/Neap tide/Secondary tide.

6 (a) Explain the effects of altitude and distance from the sea on air temperature variation of any place.

(b) Mention the location of Stratosphere in the atmosphere and state its importance.

(c) What is pressure cell ?

7 (a) Describe the major currents of South Atlantic Ocean.

(b) Why the time difference between two primary at any place is 24 hr 52 min (approx.) ?

(c) What is ‘syzygy’?
